PCG Wins “Outstanding Exhibit” Award at 2026 Hong Kong Flower Show

APRIL 14, 2026 – The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Hong Kong, in coordination with the United Architects of the Philippines – Hong Kong Chapter and The BLOMSTRE, joined the 2026 Hong Kong Flower Show. Based on the theme, “A Fragrant Journey Through Hong Kong,” the event was held from March 20-29, 2026 at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay.

Due to its creative and culture-rich presentation, the Philippine booth received this year’s “Merit Award for Outstanding Exhibit in the Displays Section (Non-Local)” — a huge step up from previous years, when the booth received the “Merit Award for Unique Feature” in 2023 and 2025.

2026 HK Flower Show Recognizes Philippine Consulate

According to a DFA news release, the Philippine booth was inspired by the Santacruzan Festival, a traditional procession that honors the finding of the True Cross by Queen Helena of Constantinople (Reyna Elena) and her son, Constantine the Great. It featured two elements that provided visitors with a “multisensory and cultural encounter” with the Philippines.

The first element is a scent and art experience dubbed by Consul General Romulo Victor M. Israel, Jr. As “Windows to the Philippines.” It features botanical paintings by Ms. Bing Famoso, founder of the Philippine Botanical Art Society and Philippine Fauna Art Society. The paintings combine each flower with the landmark where it is found: the Benguet Lily with the Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao; the Sampaguita with Rizal Park in Manila; the Ylang-Ylang with the Chocolate Hills in Bohol; and the Waling-Waling with a vinta scene in Zamboanga.

The “scent” part is provided through perfume atomizer pumps developed by The BLOMSTRE, a Hong Kong-based Filipino brand that specializes in home fragrances and hand-poured soy candles. These atomizer pumps enabled visitors to experience the distinctive scents of the Benguet Lily, Sampaguita, Ylang-Ylang, and Waling-Waling flowers. In line with the theme of the flower show, the exhibit provided everyone with a “fragrant journey throughout the Philippines.”

Meanwhile, the second element focused one experiential tourism. It featured clothed sculptures of the Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana dress, beautifully covered in living flowers. Visitors enjoyed taking pictures with these traditional garbs, which reflected Filipino culture and creativity.

“We wanted to put up a Santacruzan-inspired showcase, expressed through both scent and experiential elements, to reflect the Philippines’ cultural heritage, natural biodiversity, and world-class artistry,” Consul General Israel stated. “Our hope was for Overseas Filipinos and international visitors to have a memorable and fragrant journey through the Philippines in Hong Kong.”

The Hong Kong Flower Show, which draws thousands of visitors each year, was organized by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department. This year’s edition featured magnificent displays by 236 organizations, including 81 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions.
