FEBRUARY 13, 2026 – Eighteen Filipino artists showcased their talent at “Art Capital 2026,” an exhibit at the Grand Palais in Paris from February 13-15, 2026. They joined more than 3,000 independent artists from around the world, featuring their work to global audiences and clients.
Art Capital or “Salon des Indépendants” is a major art fair that takes place annually in Paris. Founded in 1884, it provides a platform for a wide range of contemporary creators, attracting artists from all over the globe.

Filipino Artists Featured at Paris Art Fair
The Philippine Embassy in Paris showed its support for the Filipino artists, according to this report from the Embassy. Ambassador Jose de Vega engaged with the artists, asking them about their inspiration, insights, and stories behind each masterpiece.

Notably, the art fair takes place during Arts Month, which focuses on Filipino Artists living in France and other parts of Europe. This event offers the opportunity for them to connect and explore possible collaborations.
Also during the Arts Month, the Philippine Embassy in Paris hosted a lecture on the life and works of Filipino artist, Macario Vitalis, on February 13. Vitalis was a Filipino artist who resided in Britanny for over 50 years.

For the lecture, the Embassy collaborated with Association Les Amis de Macario VITALIS, an organization dedicated to commemorating the artist’s contributions, as well as Art & Cross-Cultural Exchange Society (ACCES), a France-based Filipino association that uses art to promote education, cultural exchange, and sustainability.
Meanwhile, Prof. Yves Coativy, a historian and researcher at the University of West Brittany, delivered the lecture on Macario Vitalis. He talked about the artist’s early life, and the inspirations that guided him as he resided in Plestin-les-Grèves, Brittany.

Throughout his life in Francem Vitalis’ talent gained much recognition and admiration, with locals and the Philippine Embassy acquiring some of his works. Additionally, a nursery was created in his name: the École Maternelle Macario Vitalis, which is located in Plestin-les-Grèves.
Vitalis’ contributions has helped to strengthen ties between France and the Philippines, both in terms of the arts and cultural diplomacy. His works continue to inspire Filipino artists in Europe and around the world.
